In the land of cocoa and gold,
Where tales of wealth and power unfold,
The economy, stands as a double-edged sword, not the one you know of,
This one is not biblical.
Here we sit a watch a show where jest and sorrow dance in accord.
Here ceremonial labourers sit in high towers
Built for them with the sweat and tears of our mothers and fathers.
With their antics, they wield their power.
Exchanging futures for loans
They say “Ghana beyond aid,” we cheer and clap,
But corruption lurks in every gap.
As they dance on the stage of deceit,
The economy groans beneath their feet.
Here the only things that soar high are prices
While the common man struggles to get by.
Jobs are scarce, opportunities few,
In this maze of despair, what can one do?
They say money hates noise
They’re right! Our money is being sat on by big fat liars who drain and sniff and give the rest to their children. How will money make noise?
I can’t even think far
Many of us suffer from eye issues, yes over 230,000 Ghanaians are blind and I think this number should be revised.
Let’s not even blame this on garri because be can’t afford it anymore.
Eyes are being shut everyday, and the future blurred by the hands that are supposed to rule.
Our story is being written and we can’t even do anything about it because education has been destroyed.
In this state, will our sorrows end?
oh sons and daughters of the coast,
Has the battle really ended?
Because I see my brothers fight for their lives everyday
Can this anomaly ever be mended?
As for me I won’t keep quiet because 3kom de me
I will speak my truth in face of the economy
